Build and materials
Four liftable cast iron sections are a working feature, not a detail: they let the cook add charcoal to one zone without lifting a full grate or losing heat across the rest of the bed.
The adjustable charcoal tray plus a dump-style ash pan is the combination that makes temperature controllable. A fixed charcoal bed with a single vent is the main reason cheap cart grills are hard to cook on.
Cast iron grates hold heat and sear properly. Chrome-plated wire is the usual substitution and typically lasts two to three seasons before the plating fails at the weld points.
The powder-coated tubular steel cart is structural — it carries the firebox and the side shelf, so the joints are welded rather than riveted.
